Thanksgiving Day Mass will be at 10am. The offertory collection will go to the Ladies of Charity to help with their Christmas baskets. As is customary on Thanksgiving, we will collect canned and dry goods for the Mt. Juliet Help Center to be placed in front of the altar.
The Church Office will close at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 22 for the Thanksgiving Holiday and will also be closed Nov. 23-24.
Pope Francis has named Father J. Mark Spalding, a priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville, to be the 12th Bishop of Nashville. The appointment was publicized at noon in Rome, 5 a.m. central time, on Tuesday November 21, 2017. Bishop-elect Spalding will be ordained a bishop and installed as the Bishop of Nashville on February 2, 2018 at Sagrado Corazon at the Catholic Pastoral Center on McGavock Pike. Bishop-elect Spalding, 52, a native of Fredericktown, KY and a member of a large extended family with roots dating to the earliest days of Catholic life west of the Appalachian Mountains, was ordained to the priesthood on August 3, 1991 at the St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral in Bardstown, KY. He is a graduate of Bethlehem High School in Bardstown, KY, and St. Meinrad Seminary in St. Meinrad, Indiana. He received a master of religious studies and a licentiate in canon law from American University in Louvain, Belgium. He is currently pastor of Holy Trinity Parish and Holy Name Parish in Louisville. He has also served as a vicar general for the archdiocese since 2011. He has served a number of other assignments including associate pastor at St. Joseph and chaplain at Bethlehem High School in Bardstown, associate pastor at St. Augustine in Lebanon, KY, associate pastor at St. Margaret Mary in Louisville, pastor of Immaculate Conception in LaGrange, KY. He has served as a judge, judicial vicar, and director of the tribunal for the archdiocese.
St Stephen Knights of Columbus are hosting the Annual Ice Skating Party the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 7pm-9pm at the Centennial Sportsplex in Centennial Park, 222 25th Ave., in Nashville, just off West End. This event is free and all parishioners are invited (this is not open to the public).
Each Wednesday during Advent (Dec. 6, 13, and 20), from 7pm to 8pm, we will have a Holy Hour of Adoration. During this time, you will also have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and the Knights, are again sponsoring Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 2. Santa arrives at 9am and is scheduled to stay until 11am. Breakfast is FREE! There will also be: music, crafts, storytelling, and FREE pictures with Santa. For everyone to sit and enjoy their breakfast, there will be two sittings from which to choose: 9-9:45am and 10-10:45am. Sign-ups continue Nov. 18-19 and Nov. 25-26. Signing up helps to determine the amount of food and supplies needed. Everyone is welcome! Donations to the Mt. Juliet Animal Shelter will be appreciated; see flyer on the bulletin board in the narthex for most needed items.
Rehearsals for the 2017 Children’s Christmas Choir begin Saturday, Dec. 2, from 2:30pm to 3:30pm in Room 105. The choir will rehearse at the same time and place every Saturday thru Advent. Celebrate the first Sunday of Advent with St. Stephen friends on Sunday, Dec. 3, 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the hall of the Holy Family Center. Enjoy cookies, hot chocolate, and time with friends while making an advent wreath for your home. Cost is $20 per wreath and includes all supplies. The St. Stephen Annual Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9 starting at 6:30pm in the hall of the Holy Family Center. The theme for this year is “Jingle and Mingle at the St. Stephen Parish Christmas Party.” There will be food, music, dancing, wine silent auction, Christmas trivia, an “ugly Sweater Contest,” other games, and raffle. Admission: $30/adult, $20/child (12 and under). Free childcare available (3 and over; sign up when you purchase your tickets). Ticket sales after all the Masses this weekend, Nov. 25-26, and Dec. 2-3. Stop by the ticket sales table in the old church. The party is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
For the past several years, St. Stephen has filled the McMurray Middle School “Clothes Closet.” The Clothes Closet, during winter, is filled with coats, jackets, hats, gloves, and vests, distributed to children and their families based upon need as seen and referred by the teachers. Parishioners are asked to check their closets for the items; new or very gently used are accepted. Please place the items in the labeled boxes in the old church during the month of November.
