After much discussion, the Knights of Columbus and the KC Ladies Auxiliary have decided that due to the cooking staff and members’ illness with the flu and the potential for spreading it to others, and the Weather Channel calling for snow accumulation Friday, ice accumulation on Saturday and temperatures remaining below freezing, the Postulant Dinner has been cancelled for this Saturday, Jan. 13. Make plans to attend the next installment of Parent Talk with Kary next Sunday, Jan. 21 at 9:45am and 6:15pm in the church. Kary Valdes will present tips on being happier and less stressed.
Our next opportunity to serve the homeless at Loaves and Fishes is Saturday, Jan. 27. We will be doing breakfast and lunch. We need 3-5 volunteers to help with breakfast from 7:30am to 9:30am, and 10-14 volunteers to help with lunch from 9:30am to 1pm. Contact Tracey Doering, 615-347-9643, or 615-385-3688. Whether you will celebrate your 1st, 13th, or 70th Anniversary during 2018, let’s celebrate! Join us at St. Stephen’s annual Celebration of Marriage Dinner to be held Saturday, Feb. 10 after the 5PM mass. The Parish will provide the meat and dessert. Attendees are requested to bring a side dish; salad, vegetable, or casserole. Couples will receive a certificate commemorating the event. Please sign-up if you plan to attend. We need a count to purchase the meat and dessert. Sign-up sheets are in the Narthax or call Theresa Bradley at the Church Office. For many years, the St. Stephen Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary have recognized and supported the Postulants of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. Postulants are in their first year of formation to become a Dominican Sister. We host them for dinner and make a financial contribution to the sisters from the proceeds of a dessert auction. This year, the Postulant dinner is scheduled for Saturday,Jan. 13. The dinner will be held in the hall of the Holy Family Center following the 5pm Mass. All are welcome to come to dinner, meet the Sisters and participate in the annual dessert auction. Please join in support of these young women who are preparing to devote their lives to serve the Lord. We look forward to you joining the celebration
The Haiti Sewing Workshop will meet on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 10am in Room 105. If you are interested in sewing simple tote bags for Haiti, please stop in. We will be collecting completed Tote Bags and add the cording on those totes which need a drawstring closure. If anyone would like fabric to continue making these Tote Bags for Haiti, please let me know so it’s available on Sat., Jan. 20.
