Catholic guitarist and composer Scott Goudeau was born and raised in the heart of Cajun country, Lafayette, Louisiana. He left school to join the ranks of traveling Swamp Pop and jazz musicians from south Louisiana at the age of fifteen. In his early twenties, Scott relocated to New Orleans, where he became prominent in the New Orleans jazz and rock music scenes, while also serving as staff guitarist for the New Orleans Symphony Summer Pops Orchestra and for the famed Blue Room Orchestra. Legendary New Orleans songwriter and producer Allen Toussaint drafted Scott into his band for what became a productive twelve-year association. During those years Scott also performed in concert or sessions with Michael McDonald, Don Henley, Doctor John, The Meters, The Metrics, Professor Longhair, Glen Campbell, Harry Connick Jr., Boz Skaggs, Michelle Shocked, Narada Michael Walden, Benny Carter, Englebert Humperdinck, and many others. Scott has released five albums of original electric jazz compositions featuring some of New Orleans’ most respected jazz players. TV appearances with his own band and with Toussaint include “The Conan O’Brien Show” and “Austin City Limits”. While on his way to an enduring music career, Scott heard a spiritual call that inspired him into Catholic music ministry. Now living and working in Nashville since 1999, he has performed on television broadcasts on EWTN, and at served conferences and missions in the United States and abroad. Serving as a parish music director since 2004, Scott also directs the “Life Teen Band,” and is director of RCIA/OCIA for Saint Stephen Catholic Community.
